You can make a difference by devoting one hour a week to B&B

We are looking to build a team of community members committed to educational justice and who love working with kids. Our volunteer tutors help students with reading and assignments while providing social connection during the hour before school. Volunteer tutors receive training and ongoing support from our staff. A typical commitment to tutoring is once per week. We have a specific need for tutors who are fluent Spanish speakers.

The B&B Morning Program is in session during the school year:
Monday through Friday, 8-9am at our elementary school sites: Dewey, Foster, Lincolnwood, Lincoln, Oakton, Walker, Washington, and Willard.

Become a weekly Volunteer Tutor

Community Volunteers: In an effort to keep our volunteer intake process streamlined, we welcome new community volunteers at five different points throughout the school year: three onboarding periods in the fall, one in the winter, and one in the spring. After you complete your initial sign up, we will contact you with onboarding details and specific dates.

Northwestern Student Volunteers: Review the information about our quarterly onboarding schedule using the link to the right.

If you'd like to learn more about volunteering please contact Kelli Wynn, Program Manager of Volunteers, at volunteer@booksbreakfast.org.

Consider being a B&B Shopper or Ride-share Driver!

These volunteer opportunities are great ways to support the program outside of tutoring. Our shoppers purchase and deliver groceries needed for the program, then are reimbursed for the purchases. Ride-share drivers would help bring our Northwestern student tutors to the school then take them back to campus after programming.
