You can make a difference by devoting one hour a week to B&B

B&B has been a rewarding experience. The program has allowed me to influence kids so they feel empowered to learn, ask questions and to be the best they can be.

It’s clear that students love being at B&B and feel comfortable there because of the warm environment created.

What do we do?

Our daily, hour-long program connects students to caring and committed volunteer tutors. Tutors typically commit to one morning a week to work one-on-one with students on homework, reading, or math. B&B tutors receive training on how to provide academic help and ongoing support from the B&B Site Director.

The need for volunteer tutors has never been greater. We need your help to support all B&B students! We are looking to build a team of community members committed to educational justice and who love working with kids. In addition, we have a specific need for tutors who are fluent Spanish speakers.

How can you get involved?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Books & Breakfast! We will be looking for new Morning Program volunteers for the 2025-2026 school year soon. Our new Volunteer Tutor Form will be available in by mid-August 2025.

*Northwestern Student Volunteers, please stay tuned for information on volunteering at the start of the new school year.

The B&B Morning Program is in session during the school year:

Monday through Friday, 8-9am at our elementary school sites - Dewey, Lincolnwood, Kingsley, Lincoln, Walker, Washington, and Willard.
