Books & Breakfast traces its roots to the 1980s, when parents and educators at one elementary school recognized a need for breakfast and decided to act. In 2012, parents and educators once again came together, led by Kim Hammock, this time to reinvent B&B to focus on advancing racial justice and educational equity. Kim served as B&B’s Executive Director until stepping down in 2024, and her vision made Books & Breakfast the organization it is today. In our founder's honor, we have created the Kim Hammock Excellence Fund, which will support professional development and tutor training, continuing to ensure her commitment to building a strong foundation for B&B.
